hplog(8) System Manager's Manual hplog(8)

NAME
hplog - hp ProLiant Integrated Management Logging (IML) utility

SYNOPSIS
       /sbin/hplog -s <severity> -l "<custom message>"

       /sbin/hplog -v

       /sbin/hplog -V <entrynum>

       /sbin/hplog [tfpia] [a-option]

DESCRIPTION
The hplog utility allows system administrators and applications to log
customized messages to the ProLiant Integrated Management Log (IML).
This log is visible on ProLiant servers which have Remote "Lights Out"
management capabilities even if the server is powered off. There is a
size limitation of 228 characters for each entry logged.

-s The severity option is required for every entry logged. The
allowed values are: CAUTION, CRITICAL, INFO and REPAIRED. Note
that a "REPAIRED" value will not actually repair a previous mes-
sage but will log a new entry into the IML.

-l The "l" option is used to log a message which is 228 bytes or
less to the IML. The message must be encapsulated in double
quotes (""). If a message is logged, a severity must be
              assigned using the "-s" option.

-v The "v" option will format and display the IML entries to stan-
dard output. This in turn can be parsed by a third party appli-
cation or logged to a file using standard shell output redirect-
              ion techniques.

-V The "V <entrynum>" option will format and display entire IML
entries starting from the log entry number to standard output.

-t Print the current thermal sensor data.

       -f Display current fan data

       -p Display current power data

       -i Display pci route table

-a <option> Control Automatic Server Recovery. Supported values
for option are: STATUS, ENABLE, DISABLE, TIMEOUT=<val>.
               val must be 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes.
